CHAPELLE DE PLANTÉ
Planté: a site well worth a visit
Just a few hundred metres from the D33 (Plessé-Savenay axis) and 10 km from the N165, the Planté site is a natural setting that serves as a backdrop to the Notre-Dame de Planté chapel.
"All the happiness in the world lies in the unexpected" Jean d'Ormesson
This little chapel of Notre-Dame de Planté (attested to dating from at least 1468) is unexpected. Its great sobriety is the charm of the building. Its exterior restoration using traditional techniques was completed in 2012, preserving its integrity.
The statue of Julien Château, the hermit of Planté (18th century), perched on a promontory, staring out over the chapel, is unexpected. He lived part of his life in the small oratory adjoining the chapel. It was he who introduced the potato to the region.
This wildly beautiful landscape, far from the hustle and bustle of the cities, is surprisingly calm: an invitation to recharge one's batteries, to meditate...
Unexpectedly, this exceptionally rich natural heritage. The Planté site is classified as a type 1 ZNIEFF (Zone Naturelle d'Intérêt Ecologique Faunistique et Floristique), which includes 20 rare and protected species. Today, only 10 have been found (wandering heather, black heather, meadowsweet, etc.). This site is a botanical exception that is the focus of much attention.
Unexpectedly, these springs spring up everywhere and eventually make their way to the fountains, giving rise to beautiful legends, or to the well or the wash-house. The latter was a place of life that left its mark on the lives of the Quillyens in the last century.
The path winds through a small wood, an unexpected window on biodiversity.
