Église Saint-Pierre de Chemillé

Saint-Pierre church, a witness to the past, both architecturally and historically.

This church has preserved some elements of its 11th-century Romanesque architecture and its 13th-century portal, but the nave is more recent, dating from 1902.

It overlooks the old village of St Pierre and houses the stained glass window of the "Pater des Vendéens", a scene that took place on the square on 11 April 1793.

The permanent exhibition, "La Vendée chemilloise", is located in one of the transepts. It retraces the history of the Vendée Wars in the Chemillé region, with the help of numerous illustrations and explanations.
