Prieuré de Port l'Abbé
Discover the Prieuré de Port l'Abbé, on the banks of the Sarthe at Étriché.
Founded by Robert d'Arbrissel at the end of the 11th century, the Priory of Port l'Abbé depended on the Abbey of La Roë.Of the fifty or so religious houses built in the 12th century under the impetus of the Abbaye de la Roë, only Port l'Abbé in Etriché has preserved a large part of its original buildings: Romanesque chapel, east wing, service building with its defensive tower overlooking the Sarthe.
Free guided tours in summer from 10 July to 25 August, every day (except Sunday), from 10am to 4pm. Group visits by appointment.
Booking recommended.
