Prieuré de Port l'Abbé

Discover the Prieuré de Port l'Abbé, on the banks of the Sarthe at Étriché.

Founded by Robert d’Arbrissel at the end of the 11th century, the Priory of Port l’Abbé was a dependency of La Roë Abbey.

Of the fifty or so religious houses built in the 12th century under the auspices of La Roë Abbey, only Port l’Abbé in Etriché has retained a large part of its original buildings: the Romanesque chapel, the east wing, the service building with its defensive tower overlooking the River Sarthe.

Free guided tours are available in the summer from 10 July to 25 August, every day (except Sundays), from 10.00 to 16.00. Group visits by appointment.
