Domaine de La Gressière, son histoire
Welcome to Domaine de la Gressière, an exceptional site in La Bernerie-en-Retz.
In the 11th century, it is said that the Château de la Gressière was a veritable fortress, surrounded by a moat, dominating the entire Baie de Bourgneuf. At the time, it was built entirely of wood. Unfortunately, a fire ruined the building at the end of the 17th century. Château de la Gressière was rebuilt in 1870 on the ruins of the fortress by Arthur Charrette de Boisfoucault.
It's hard to imagine today that, at the time, this property covered 50 hectares and stretched as far as the sea. The property included the château, outbuildings and two farms. It was divided up in 1936, with the château sold to the de Boüard family and the farm to the Corbé family.
The town of La Bernerie bought it in 1985, after the death of Count Roger de Boüard de Laforest, its last owner.
In 1991, it leased the château under an emphyteutic lease with a view to turning it into a hotel-restaurant, and rented it to Madame Grandjean, who ran it until 2002.
Since 2011, Marc Guillermou has been the leaseholder, investing to optimise the Domaine's offering and delegating management to several successive teams.
Since 2021, Alan Castelsagué has been running the estate and bringing it to life, making it a place where everyone can get away from it all, meet up and, above all, feel good.
The Domaine de la Gressière now offers a wide range of activities: hotel, restaurant, cocktail bar, seminars and events.
