CHAPELLE SAINT ANDRE

Chapel built in the 20th century on the site of a primitive chapel

In the village of Le Châtel, in the Paribou frairie, is the chapel of Saint-André, patron saint of the parish since the 10th century. This
Chapel replaced an oratory built in 1895 on the remains of a primitive chapel.
In the Middle Ages, lepers in long hooded cloaks would play a rattle to signal their presence and take refuge in the sickhouses built around this chapel. A priory served by the Benedictine monks of Saint-Gildas des Bois also existed here.
