Chapelle Notre-Dame de la Garde

Chapel dating from 1495, listed as a Historic Monument in 1973.

The chapel was once a place of pilgrimage. It has been extensively restored and retains its three-sided apse. Its name is first mentioned in 1274, when a certain Jean de la Garde d'Angers took a long lease on a vineyard belonging to the Abbey of Chaloché, which in turn had received it from Hugues de Matheflon. Hugues Lejean, one of the first lords, founded a chapel on this site in 1320, dedicated to the Virgin and all the saints.

Open to the public during the European Heritage Days.
