Cathédrale Notre-Dame de la Trinité

The Church of the Trinity was built on the outskirts of the Château de Laval in 1070 by the monks of Couture du Mans.

The Church of the Trinity was built on the outskirts of the castle in 1070 by the monks of Couture du Mans.

The building underwent extensive alterations over the centuries, and was not elevated to cathedral status until 1855.

As a result, its architecture is fairly composite (Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, etc.).
A visit to the cathedral reveals the different phases of its transformation, particularly in the windows and vaults, as well as the wealth of its furnishings: altarpieces, statues, triptychs, funerary monuments, tapestries, organs, etc.
