MOULIN À EAU DE DOLBEAU
The Moulin du Dolbeau is located at the northernmost point of the Coex commune, on the border with Saint Maixent sur Vie and Commequiers. Listed on the land register and the Cassini map, it predates 1750.
From a simple water mill on the banks of the River Vie, it became a major flour mill in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, until 1928 when it was destroyed by fire. A distillery was built on the ruins in 1935, but ceased operations in the 1960s.Today, the distillery is no longer in operation, but the mill lends the site a pastoral charm. The rails of the old railway line running through the hamlet have been given a new lease of life with the arrival of the Vélorail, offering fantastic rides between Commequiers and Coëx.
