Rochemenier Village Troglodytique, Musée Troglo

The Village Troglo de Rochemenier museum is located in the most complete troglodyte site in the Loire Valley. As far back as the Middle Ages, farmers dug out the courtyard of their farm like an open-air quarry, then built their dwellings and outbuildings around it.

Rochemenier is notable for its extensive troglodyte architecture. The site includes two former underground farms with dwellings and outbuildings housing hundreds of farming tools and furnishings, and an underground chapel.
