Presentation of: MASSIF FORESTIER DE MERVENT-VOUVANT

The state-owned forest covers 8 communes (Bourneau, Faymoreau, Foussais-Payré, Mervent, L'Orbrie, Pissotte, Puy-de-Serre and Vouvant). Its charm lies as much in its relief as in the streams and rivers that flow through it, such as the Vendée and the Mère.

From time immemorial, man has been able to make the most of the forest's riches. Today, foresters practise silviculture, work to protect it and preserve some remarkable trees: the Marinier, the Chêne à l'Ermite and the Chêne à 5 troncs.

The judicious use of the site offers numerous opportunities for sporting activities and relaxation: walking, horse-riding and mountain biking, boating on the lake, etc.

In the forest: remarkable trees, the Déluge bridge, the Diet bridge, the Père de Montfort cave, the lookout point at the Saint-Luc dam.
Leisure sites: water sports centre, Natur'Zoo and Parc de Pierre-Brune
