THE ORANGERY, A HISTORIC EXHIBITION SPACE
Located in the heart of the town centre, the Orangerie is a unique exhibition space that highlights Mortagne's rich past. Housed in the former orangery of the Beaussire family, it offers an authentic and elegant setting in which to discover archaeological and heritage treasures: prehistoric remains, Merovingian sarcophagi, military and religious objects, stone sculptures, coats of arms and models tracing the development of the fortified castle.Visitors of all ages will be amazed by the diversity of the collections and the way in which local heritage is showcased. It's a lively visit, accessible to all, that helps visitors understand the history of the town and appreciate the cultural wealth of the area.
Open every day in July and August and only at weekends in April, May, June, September and October, from 9am to 9pm. Free admission, under video surveillance
In July and August, the Pays de Mortagne Tourist Office organises guided tours of Mortagne-sur-Sèvre every Wednesday at 6.15pm, including a visit to the Orangerie and Maison Beaussire.
You can get there via Rue Nantaise, Jardin Beaussire or Rue de la Mairie.
