Manoir de La Cour
Lords of the Middle Ages
Manoir de la Cour is a medieval building constructed in the 13th century by the canons of the cathedral chapter of Le Mans. It was the administrative, economic and social headquarters of the seigneury of Asnières. Listed as a historic monument, it is one of the few surviving examples of a civil building from this period. In the heart of the small, picturesque town of Asnières-sur-Vègre, the recently restored Manoir offers visitors a permanent exhibition on the 700-year history of the site and, more broadly, on daily life in the Middle Ages.
With its fun, interactive environment (models to handle, various games, smells to smell, giant game of snakes and ladders), the Manoir de la Cour is a great educational tool for learning about medieval history.
