Parc de la Sénardière

Remains of an ancient castle dating from the early 14th century, surrounded by an 8-metre-wide moat and graced by recently restored Renaissance gardens.

This departmental site is divided into two grassed platforms surrounded by a moat. The first, on the lower level, is flanked by two partially collapsed towers. The second, on the upper level, is undoubtedly one of the finest surviving examples of Renaissance island squares in the Vendée. It is embellished by a mall of lime trees and a few isolated trees, including two large yew trees.
