This thousand-year-old chestnut tree offers a rare example of natural layering: some of its strongly curved branches have taken root by making contact with the ground, giving rise to new trees, a veritable colony planted all around the original tree.It has been classified as France's 9th Remarkable Tree of the 19th century.
