LA MAISON DU PIN: THE PEP OF SOUTHERN MAYENNE!

Based in Préaux, on the edge of south-east Mayenne and on the border between Maine and Anjou, the Maison du Pin was born of a crazy project: to create a lively place where heritage, culture and local produce come together.

A wine-growing pioneer in the department, the estate is home to one of the few plots of vines in Mayenne. In 1997, Claude Marquet planted 53 rows of vines, symbolising his attachment to his native land and a rediscovered tradition.

Today, the 2.2 hectares of organically grown vines include Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pineau d'Aunis, Syrah and Chenin. The vintages include sparkling and still wines, whites, rosés and reds, as well as a range of artisanal products.

The guided tour takes you to the heart of a place steeped in history: a former fortified farm dating back to the 10th century. You'll discover the manor house, rebuilt stone by stone by Claude Marquet, its vineyards and the secrets of the winery, before concluding with a convivial tasting session.

Visit by prior arrangement: €12 per person for groups of 20 to 60 people maximum

Allow 2? hours for the visit, including a 30-minute tasting session
