Maison de l'Eau - Arche de la Nature
The Maison de l'Eau, with its aquariums, paddle wheel and old steam engines, is a major tourist attraction in the Sarthe region.
On the banks of the Huisne, just a stone's throw from the town, the former drinking water production plant reveals a unique industrial heritage: steam and hydraulic engines, paddle wheels and the Bollée wind turbine. Now an educational centre for water and energy, the Maison de l'Eau offers interactive modules on the water cycle, life in the river, including large aquariums of freshwater fish, and an exhibition on energy.Since March 2024, the Maison de l'Eau has been protected as a Historic Monument.
Please note that the hydraulic building, which is undergoing works, is not accessible from June 2024 to June 2025.
