EGLISE SAINT HILAIRE D'ETRICHÉ
The first written records of the existence of the church of Saint Hilaire d'Etriché date back to the 12th century. It was a building dating back to the time when Robert le Fort drove the Normans out of the region.
The church was restored and enlarged by the architect Mr BRICARD.It consists of a single nave and a choir. To the left is a beautiful 17th century carved wooden pulpit with panels depicting the 4 Evangelists.
Behind the altar is a large stained glass window depicting the Virgin Mary, created by Mr Desvallieres, a member of the Académie des Beaux Arts.
There is also a reproduction of the altarpiece from the Moulin d'Ivray chapel (16th century), the original of which is in the Musée Saint Jean in Angers.
The church is open every day.
