Église romane Notre Dame

The Catholic church of La Chaize Giraud, a listed historic monument since 1921.

The 12th-century church was almost entirely rebuilt according to the original Latin cross plan at the end of the 19th century. All that remained was the western façade with a portal in the Poitevin Romanesque style, one of the finest in the Poitou region. On either side of the portal, 2 bas-reliefs depict the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary on the left and the Adoration of the Magi on the right. From the forecourt, which overlooks the Jaunay valley, there is a vast panoramic view of the marshes and the Atlantic Ocean.
