Église Notre-Dame de Beaupréau

Discover the neo-Gothic Notre Dame church, built in 1863 by architect Alfred Tessier.

CURRENTLY CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

Its 4 levels of elevation, worthy of cathedrals, are adorned with magnificent stained glass windows that make up one of the most beautiful glass decorations in western France.

In the church, two listed stained glass windows depict episodes from the Vendée Wars (download the Vendée Wars trail).

Commissioned by the town's clergy from the great German master glassworker Heinrich Ely, the stained glass windows evoke the great periods of French history, in a harmonious swirl of colour and light that will leave you breathless.

After your visit, explore Beaupréau's historic quarter and stroll through the Château grounds.
