CHAPELLE DE ROHARS
The Sainte-Anne chapel is located near the old port village of Rohars.
Several times rebuilt over the centuries, the chapel, which once stood on the banks of the Loire, is the last remaining evidence of the priory, which existed since at least 1330 and belonged to the Abbey of Sainte Marie de Pornic of the Order of Saint Augustine. On its medieval foundations, it was rebuilt in 1707, then restored in 1848 by the Legland family, whose Jean de Rohars is said to have helped more than a thousand Vendéens who had taken refuge in the region across the Loire after the Battle of Savenay in 1793. It was completely restored in 2011 and now houses a cultural centre.
Open from May to September (Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays).
