Pigeonnier et four à pain

In the Middle Ages, the dovecote was the privilege of the lord and represented the importance of the property and his power.
At Girouard, this building never had this vocation, as it dates back to 1860 and was built in this style simply for aesthetic reasons. At the time, it housed pigeons and small farm animals (chickens, rabbits, pigs, etc.) to feed the parish priest and his maid. There was also a well next door, which has now been blocked up.

The whole complex was restored in 2010. The bread oven has been returned to its original function at village festivals, where it was used to bake gâche and bread and to simmer the famous mogettes that Girouard locals enjoy on toasted bread.
