LAVOIR DE GESNES
Built at the end of the 19th century, it features beautiful brick arcades and shale stone.
A square basin fed by an abundant spring provided space for twelve washerwomen kneeling in their "carriage". An elegant washhouse, where the washerwomen gathered every week, and which for almost a century set the pace for life in the village. It is on the road leading to Saint Ouen des Vallons, 50 metres from the entrance to the village. The wash-house is shaped like an impluvium. Rainwater flows into a square basin.
The water also comes from a large spring. There are 3 doors with brick keystones.
