In centuries gone by, there were ten mills in the commune of La Chapelle-Hermier. Today, only the Chiron mill remains.

At a place called Le Chiron, a stone tower remains, which is in fact the body of an old windmill that produced flour.

Dating back to the 1800s, the Chiron mill is situated on the heights overlooking the Lac du Jaunay at a place called "Le Pré" and is around ten metres high.
Dismantled in 1886, it was fitted with a staircase leading to a platform from which you can admire the lake and its surroundings.
Hiking trails, mountain bike routes and the blue Geocaching trail pass very close to this mill.
