Le Pont Vieux
The Vieux-Pont de Laval was built in the 13th century on the site of an ancient Gallo-Roman ford.
Built in the 13th century on the site of an ancient Gallo-Roman ford on the road to Armorique, the Pont-Vieux has a characteristic hump-backed profile. Originally comprising four or five arches, it underwent transformations when the quays were built. Its parapets were lined with corbelled houses. Until 1779, the Porte Saint-Julien stood on top of the first pier towards the Pont-de-Mayenne suburb, defending access to the town.
