L'OBSERVATOIRE– TADASHI KAWAMATA

It all begins with a footbridge, barely perceptible in the heart of the reed beds, which invites you to set off on a voyage of discovery through an atypical environment.

It was as part of the Estuaire Nantes <> Saint-Nazaire 2007 event that the Japanese artist Tadashi Kawamata, seduced by the site, designed a wooden tower in the middle of the flood plains. Perched in the "Observatory", it offers a 360° view of the marshes, the Loire, the chimneys of the Cordemais power station, the Saint-Nazaire bridge and the village of Lavau-sur-Loire. To get there, a path perched 40 cm above the ground for almost 800 m invites you to immerse yourself in a hitherto inaccessible natural world. The walkway links the village to the banks of the Loire and its islands, where flora and fauna live side by side with visitors. The unique sensation of walking above the wetlands invites you to dream and float.
