20 minutes from Angers and just a few metres from the Loire and the Loire à Vélo circuit, the lime kilns represent the industrial activity in the commune. Some are visible via the Monjtean sur Loire intramural path.
Montjean the White : lime kilns dated from the 18th and the 19th centuries. Some of which are classified historical monument. It lists no less than 24 lime kilns in the town in 13 production sites. The chaufournière activity is attested since the fifteenth century and developed significantly in the eighteenth and nineteenth century. Today an intramural presents the hiking trail and a 11.5 km goes around (several of these furnaces are listed or registered historical monument ). Warning: some furnaces are located on private property.
