Espace naturel sensible du côteau de Vilclair

The Espace Naturel Sensible du Coteau de Vilclair is an ideal place to relax and enjoy a walk in an unusual natural environment. The site is rich not only in biodiversity but also in geological history.

Historically grazed, the Coteau de Vilclair site is made up of limestone grasslands that are home to specific biodiversity such as orchids (Ophrys abeille, Ophrys verdissant) and butterflies (Azuré du Serpolet, Hespérie de la mauve). The site is ideal for geology enthusiasts, as the apparent quarry face reveals a succession of Bathonian sedimentary layers.
Managed by the local authority and the Pays de la Loire Conservatoire d'Espaces Naturels (CEN), the site is equipped with an interpretation trail, and a number of events are organised there every year, in particular by the Avoisian Apiary Association (ARA).
