Maison du Marais de Grée
Small stone house where you can discover the flora and fauna of the Marais de Grée
The Maison du Marais de Grée is owned by the Loire-Atlantique department. This small stone house houses a permanent exhibition on the history, fauna and flora of the Marais de Grée. There are a number of information panels around the house.
A remarkable natural area, the Marais de Grée stretches 4 km from north to south and 8.5 km from east to west, from Ancenis-Saint-Géréon to Vair-sur-Loire. In summer, large dry meadows dotted with canals give way to large expanses of water in winter.
The ornithological observatory, close to the Maison du Marais, allows you to discover the ballet of birds such as herring gulls, white spoonbills and ox herons for a contemplative moment and a feeling of fulfilment.
Following the footpath, a wooden bridge juts out over the marsh, opening up your senses to the exceptional natural surroundings.
Walks and guided tours are organised by associations to help you discover this Natura 2000 listed area. Take a look at our diary to find out about upcoming dates!
