LES NIDOBS
Along the towpath of the Mayenne, between Ménil and Daon, discover the NidObs by the duo Mylène Duhail and Romain Goiset, landscape artists and designers at UBINAM l'atelier des paysages.
To provide a different perspective on sensitive natural areas (ENS), the Conseil Départemental has developed a visual art project based on the river Mayenne. This cultural project consists of 7 permanent works of art, called "les NidObs", created by the duo Mylène DUHAIL and Romain GOISET, landscape artists and designers at UBINAM l'atelier des paysages. These works, installed along the 12-kilometre towpath between Château-Gontier, Ménil and Daon, represent nests whose centres are windows opening onto a remarkable view. These observatories are an invitation to stop and take in the sights and sounds of the landscape as it changes with the seasons. Some of the paintings open onto deep vistas of the valley, while the oculi point towards an unusual tree or a stump in the process of branching out.
The installation of works of visual art along the banks of the river Mayenne provides an opportunity to communicate the role of man in the development of environments and to raise awareness of the evolution of landscapes over time.
