Presentation of: La Maison de la Peche

Come and discover the fascinating industry of fishing at the museum of 'La Maison de la Pêche" lotated in the very heart of the port La Turballe.
The port of La Turballe, one of the most well known in France, based its activity on the fishing of sardines. This industry developed sharply in the 19th century with the opening of canning facilities in the area.
You will learn all about the history of the port and the development of the fishing industry from the early techniques to the more modern ones used by fishermen today.
A range of tours has been developed by the staff of the museum to enable both adults and children to appreciate and understand everything there is to know about life on the high seas.
There are also guided tours available of the port and the fish auction rooms and workshops : seamanship (knot tying), 'Ptit mousse" workshop (model making for children 3/6 ansd 6/10 yeards old), historical visits of La Turballe.
