La Collection Hippomobile de Saumur
In a 19th-century hall in the Maison Bouvet-Ladubay, discover this permanent exhibition of more than twenty horse-drawn carriages.
Bouvet Ladubay, Saumur Attelage and the IFCE - Institut Français du Cheval et de l'Equitation - have joined forces to ensure the joint cultural and tourist exploitation of this collection, with an unprecedented public-private partnership to promote the horse-drawn heritage of the National Stud. This exceptional heritage bears witness to the variety of uses to which horse-drawn carriages are put, and to the expertise required in terms of bodywork, wheelwork and saddlery. Some of these 19th century carriages, made available by the IFCE, and one travel carriage, the "Coupé Dormeuse", by the Château-Musée de Saumur, are protected as Historic Monuments.
