This red marble sculpture, representing the bust of a sailor at the prow of a boat, was created by Chilean artist Mauricio Arancibia Cortez, who has his studio in Saint Gilles Croix de Vie. Based on a sketch by Vendée artist Paul Gandriau, the work was carved from a 9-tonne block of red marble from a quarry in Minervois (Aude).
