CHÂTEAU DU BOISJOURDAN

Discover the exterior of Château de Boisjourdan.

Le Boisjourdan was built under the reign of Louis XIII by François de Boisjourdan. The name Boisjourdan is said to derive from the exploits of Hugues du Bois, the oldest member of this family, on the Crusades on the banks of the River Jordan.
The château is built on the Fondreux.
The main building dates from the 17th century, but must have been rebuilt on the site of a former feudal castle.
The chapel with its curved roof was built on a rock in the century of Louis XIV.
The buildings adjoining the château, the orangery and the laundry, also date from the 17th century.
