Château de la Lorie

On the Châteaux de la Loire route, just outside Segré on the Angers-Rennes road, Château de la Lorie opens its doors to visitors from 1 July to the third weekend in September for an exceptional tour of its interiors.

Château de la Lorie, considered to be the most northerly of the Loire châteaux, was built during the reign of Louis XIII. It is distinguished by the richness of its interiors, in particular a grand salon composed entirely of marble, reminiscent of the decor of princely palaces.
The grand gallery, designed by the Marquis de Saint-Genys, houses a remarkable collection of paintings and antiques. The dining room, designed by the architect Camut, was made to measure to accommodate wood panelling from the Château de Vitry-sur-Seine, illustrating the care taken with the interior fittings.
The estate lies at the heart of a French-style park designed by landscape architect Édouard André, offering vast vistas and structured esplanades that are perfectly integrated into the surrounding landscape.
