Villas, chalets and kiosks by the sea, the Gourmalon district of Pornic, where every street corner tells a story
Departure from Place de la Gare in front of Pornic Tourist OfficeLa Gare
The arrival of the railway line in 1875 encouraged the growth of the seaside resort and the development of the Gourmalon district. The tourist office was set up in the station's former luggage room.
La Source beach
Built in 1885, the building overlooking the beach was originally the Gourmalon Casino. Since 1990, the building has been part of Pornic's Thalassotherapy complex.
La Source de Malmy
The reputation of the Malmy saline-ferruginous spring dates back to the early 19th century. Its use for medical purposes was gradually abandoned in favour of sea bathing at the end of the 19th century.
The Gourmalon chapel
Inaugurated in 1910, it was built by donors attached to Gourmalon in order to provide the district with a place of worship independent of Pornic.
The seaside villas
Beneath the lush vegetation, the eclectic architecture of the villas reflects a wide range of styles, while retaining common decorative elements: mantling, balconies, woodwork, brickwork, kiosks, etc.
