The former 19th-century presbytery, restored in 2002, offers an authentic setting. Right in the heart of the Erve valley, at the foot of the canyon and the Saulges caves, you'll fall under the spell of a village listed as a "Petite cité de caractère" (small town of character), bordered by the river Erve (fishing possible from March to September for the 1st category and all year round for the 2nd), offering an undulating environment. The village is warm and welcoming, with its restored stone houses, the river, the Cèdre bakery (organic bread baked over a wood fire) and its seasonal bar. The gîte is self-contained, with a large enclosed garden close to the church.
You'll love the large living areas, ideal for spending time with family and friends: dining room 18m², small lounge 10m² ... which can be opened to enlarge the 2nd lounge 18m². Upstairs, 3 beautiful bedrooms: a master suite 18m² with private shower room -1 bed 160*200 and 1 bed 90*190, a bedroom with cot 18m² - 1 bed 160*200 and 1 bed 90*190 and a bedroom 9m² with 2 beds 90*190. In total, 2 WCs and 3 bath/shower rooms. Convertible: possible for 2 extra people on request.
From Saint Pierre, there are a number of footpaths through the countryside, and along the Erve river you can visit the Saulges caves, a prehistoric site in an exceptional natural setting, with rock-climbing and a restaurant on site.
You're in the Coëvrons, a land of art and history, in a remarkable natural and heritage area. Explore the Petites cités de caractères (small towns of character) of Saulges and Sainte Suzanne (also the most beautiful village in France), with 40 signposted hiking trails. Go back in time and visit the Museum of Prehistory, the Roman town of Jublains, the Basilica of Evron, the castle and the medieval town of Sainte Suzanne.
In summer, you can take advantage of the swimming lakes at the Gué de Selle leisure centre in Mézangers, for example (swin golf and canoeing are also available). A wide range of swimming pools in Bais, Evron and Sainte Suzanne to cool off in.
As you can see, there's plenty to discover in the area.
For your shopping needs, Saint Pierre has organic bread and l'Eveilleuse beer. In Vaiges (5 minutes), you'll find a mini-market, chemist, butcher, restaurants and ATMs.
