LA CHAPELLE DU PETIT LUC

Lieu de mémoire is located in the commune of Les Lucs sur Boulogne, close to the Historial and the Mémorial de la Vendée.

The Petit Luc chapel was built in 1866 on the site of the choir of the former Notre Dame du Petit Luc church, destroyed on 28 February 1794 by the Republican armies.

The old church dates back to the 11th century (according to the oldest documents) and depended on St Lienne de la Roche sur Yon.

Jean Bart, the parish priest, was the driving force behind its construction.

The interior walls of the chapel contain 22 tables with the 564 names of those massacred in Les Lucs during the Revolution, including 110 children under the age of 7.
