CHAPELLE SAINT ROCH

Chapel Saint Roch in Blain

St Roch's chapel was built in 1450 by Alain IX de Rohan to ward off the Black Death that was raging in the region.
This chapel, the last in Blain, was the seat of the frairie du Château.
Built on a megalithic mound (the small Roc Fou), like most Breton shrines, it Christianised a sacred Druid site.
Built according to the rules of the Compagnons Bâtisseurs, it faces west-east.
The door is at sunset, to the west, opening onto the shadows, the land of the dead, to the east, the choir, the light, the sacred space where the divine Liturgy takes place.
Visit: Ask for the key at the Tourist Office.
