Abbaye de Blanche Couronne

Probably founded in the second quarter of the 12th century, Blanche-Couronne Abbey in La Chapelle-Launay is a rare example of a pre-19th century monastic complex in the Loire-Atlantique region.

The abbey was listed as a Historic Monument in 1994. Since 2020, this heritage site has belonged to the Department of Loire-Atlantique. After more than five years of restoration work, the abbey is gradually coming back to life, in collaboration with local players and historical associations such as the Compagnons de Blanche-Couronne.

For heritage lovers, Blanche-Couronne Abbey is occasionally open to visitors during the European Heritage Days or as part of events organised by the Loire-Atlantique Department and the Compagnons de Blanche-Couronne.
