MALLIEVRE, CITE DE CARACTERE
Discover the little town of Mallièvre!
Mallièvre, the smallest town in the Vendée, has a lot to offer: white water, old stones, a strong identity...It's all beautifully showcased and told through a fascinating itinerary that covers all the activities linked to water and the history of the most beautiful village in the Haut Bocage Vendéen. Perched 162 metres above sea level, Mallièvre has been in perfect harmony with the Sèvre, which bubbles at its feet, for several thousand years. The inhabitants have turned to crafts, particularly textiles, a Cholet tradition. The houses, which had no foundations and were built right into the rock, each housed a loom. This activity has given the village an architectural harmony that has been carefully restored. The Cave du Tisserand, the Fountains trail, the Génovette trail and the not-to-be-missed craft market are all great places to visit if you want to spend a pleasant day in the heart of the Sèvre Nantaise valley.
