Saint-Nazaire's oldest public building still in use.

In the eastern part of Saint-Nazaire, the port extends into the Penhoët district, historically the working heart of the town. Here you'll find some pretty market halls dating from 1878. They were installed in the town centre during the Second Empire before being dismantled and reinstalled in Penhoët in 1936. It is the oldest public building in Saint-Nazaire.

At the Halles de Méan Penhoët, seven traders (fishmonger, vegetable producers, pork butcher, oyster farmer, roaster and butcher) welcome their customers on the forecourt every Saturday from 7.30am to 12.30pm.
