Originally the market Hall was used by butchers ans drapers. The decision to built the Hall, measuring 20m x 15, was made in 1818 by the town council; the adjoining was erected at the same time. Owing to the fail in production of hemp, the granary was abandoned and a theatre was installed in 1851.
