Along with the Church of St Nicolas, the Halles de Mamers form part of the image of the town of Mamers.

Built in 1818, the current halls replaced the former halls that stood in place of the current theatre. It is known that the pillars were made of wood and that they were 54 m long and 16 m wide. They were demolished to make way for the Rue du Fort, then rebuilt to house drapery and haberdashery merchants around 1819.
There were two halls facing each other: one for grain, the other for cloth.
Today, the Halle aux grains (see the inscriptions on the pillars) still houses the markets (Monday, Friday and Saturday).
The Comtesse de Ségur mentions the Halles de Mamers and its market in her "Memoirs of a Donkey" with Cadichon, published in 1860.
