Sentier d'interprétation de Cheffes
Help Cheffes' little red goose to rediscover its origins by discovering the village: a short walk to complement the Red Goose trail, signposted from the Chapel to the Mahé Cross.
The discovery trail of Cheffes, a town of dreams and water, invites you to follow the little red goose of Cheffes, which has been the town's emblem for four centuries.Along the way, you'll find a number of riddles in the booklet provided by the town hall. These riddles will give you clues about the word to find, which happens to be one of the old names of the village! (A surprise awaits you at the end!).
You'll pass through some quiet, beautiful spots.
The points of interest in the village where the tour takes you are : La boule de fort, which is a traditional bowls game in Pays de la Loire and on the borders of this region.
La grande-rue, a street where houses were stocked with supplies during floods and where the inhabitants shared good times.
Café Rivron: the cooperage is behind the shop, while the café opens onto the square.
La Croix blanche, a small village once lined with fields and mills, saw the arrival of the typical houses of the industrial era in the 19th century.
The lime kilns, the heart of the inferno is approaching 1000°C, but the lime kiln operator continues his work.
At the Cheffes mill, flour has been replaced by the graphite and pastel dust used to make pencil leads. It also produced electricity but has ceased all activity.
