PARC NATUREL RÉGIONAL LOIRE-ANJOU-TOURAINE

The Loire-Anjou-Touraine Regional Nature Park has been one of France's 54 Regional Nature Parks since 1996. These inhabited rural areas are recognised at national level for the quality of their remarkable but fragile heritage.

The Loire-Anjou-Touraine Regional Nature Park is made up of 116 communes. It covers 270,858 hectares in the Indre-et-Loire and Anjou regions.

The park boasts an exceptional natural heritage, with marshes, wine-growing hillsides, horticultural plains, forests and hedged farmland, including the Loire River, a natural and cultural symbol. It crosses the region from Tours to Angers and is joined by prestigious tributaries: the Cher, Indre, Vienne, Thouet and Authion. These confluences have given rise to some remarkable landscapes, closely linked to human activity.

The royal river is associated with sites that are emblematic of French history, as well as more intimate ones. The region boasts no fewer than 500 historic monuments, including 169 listed buildings and 338 registered buildings.
