LES MARAIS SALANTS
The salt marshes now extend over 4,500 hectares from Croix de Vie to Barrage des Vallées and from Saint Hilaire de Riez to Fenouiller.
Man-made since the 7th century, they bear witness to the intense activity that until recently surrounded the harvesting of "white gold". The rehabilitation of former salt marshes in the lower Vie valley has revived salt production since the 1990s.Contact
