Lac de Vioreau - Joué-Sur-Erdre
The Lac de Vioreau is a protected area that has become a popular venue for outdoor physical activities, water sports, swimming, hiking and fishing. It's the place to be in fine weather!
Located in Joué-sur-Erdre in the heart of a protected natural area, Lac de Vioreau is a unique natural site in the Loire-Atlantique region. The lake, the largest navigable inland body of water in the département, is one of the tourist attractions of the Ancenis region. It's a great place to relax in fine weather, but it's also a great place for leisure activities. With swimming, games, walks and picnics in the shade, the leisure centre invites you to spend a relaxing afternoon or day.Lined with shaded picnic tables, the Vioreau site invites you to enjoy an open-air lunch in a refreshing setting. The landscaped site has a picnic area, sanitary facilities, showers and a snack bar for daytime refreshments. During the summer months, you can also cool off by the water's edge or enjoy a swim on sunny days. The free beach at Lac de Vioreau is supervised from 07 July to the end of August, from Tuesday to Sunday, from 12.30pm to 6.30pm.
New this summer: a swimming pool has been installed near the beach at Lac de Vioreau! With a pool measuring 12 x 6 metres and 1m50 deep, swimmers can enjoy a new facility during the summer months in an exceptional setting. Swimming lessons for children and adults are given at the pool by three lifeguards from Nantes natation (registration with Joué-sur-Erdre town hall).
Located on the edge of the forest, you can make a day of it by taking a walk around the lake. The 10.5km loop runs alongside the barges in a calm and relaxing environment. It's the perfect opportunity to discover all the facets of this site: the beach, the natural areas, the characterful houses and the vast Vioreau forest.
Lac de Vioreau is an ideal playground for swimming, water sports (dinghy, catamaran, windsurfing, stand-up paddle, canoeing) and land-based activities (archery, mountain biking, climbing, orienteering), as well as workshops to raise awareness and discover the natural environment.
The site is also a favourite spot for anglers. The largest reservoir in the département, Lac de Vioreau is home to a large population of carnivorous fish, mainly pike-perch and perch, as well as a large population of common and mirror carp.
