La Héronnière du Pain Béni
Protected site of 150 hectares
The terrées (land raised by what has been removed from the surrounding ditches) at Pain Béni are home to the largest heron colony in the Marais Poitevin, with almost 600 pairs.At the observatory, you may be able to admire the 5 species that nest there: the grey heron and little egret high up, the cattle guard and night heron in the trees and the purple heron below.
