Combining tradition and modernity...

The René Village d'Art association, with the agreement of the municipality, is enhancing the village's tree-lined path in the centre of the village, which runs around the municipal land used to create the new "baby wood".

Given the wealth of trees and shrubs along the route, with no fewer than sixty local species, and its location along the Orthon stream (a rich and often little-known wetland ecosystem), the presence of an old abandoned pond (nearly 200 m2) cited as "Pinson's mill" in 1610, beautiful stumps and trognes characteristic of recent farming, and its wealth of wildlife (thirty species of birds identified during the outing with the LPO)....
We have :
- created a botanical trail along the 1,000 m of communal hedgerow planted ten years ago. This trail is complemented by panels revealing and highlighting the characteristics of the local flora and fauna (pollarded trees, birds, butterflies, biodiversity corner, etc.) and by a "nest box alley" ....
- Alongside one of the existing hedges, the school's children have planted several strips of woodland known as the "children's wood". The ultimate aim is to create a communal arboretum.

- the path of the young trognes (about twenty) has just been created
- We are rehabilitating the old pond, which has dried up and become overgrown, to bring it back to life and enable people to discover and learn about this aquatic environment.

This entire project is being carried out with the active participation of the children of the Dangeul-René-Nouans SIVOS, offering them an opportunity to learn about the environment through a wide range of activities centred on trees and natural environments: drawing and painting workshops, various creations (whistle, charcoal, nesting box, etc.), tree and shrub planting, drawing up signs and a walker's charter, discovery outings, visits to establishments, talks by tree-related professionals, etc.
