The town council wants to showcase this site by offering a place to relax and enjoy a stroll.
The town of Châteaubriant has decided to redevelop the area around the Château in order to highlight its historic heritage and promote tourist attractions. This overall strategy is being developed in partnership with LAD SPL, a departmental agency serving local authorities, CAUE 44 (Conseil d'Architecture, d'Urbanisme et d'Environnement), DRAC (Direction Régionale des Affaires Culturelles) and ABF (Architecte des Bâtiments de France).As part of this redevelopment, the town of Châteaubriant has appointed PRAGMA, the main contractor, to carry out the redevelopment of the rue du Duc d'Aumale. Work began on Wednesday 13 January 2021 and will be completed on Tuesday 13 July 2021. The new development will unveil a landscaped park that is ideal for relaxing and strolling around, with the emphasis on soft modes of transport, as the street will be permanently closed to motor vehicle traffic. The site will also host cultural events on the banks of the Etang de la Torche.
