Mont Esprit

Created on the site of former marshland, this artificial mound, made up of ballast from merchant ships and rising to a height of 26 m, was laid out as a public garden on the initiative of Dr Yves Chelet, with the active help of the mayor of the time, Mr Gallerand. The work was carried out between 1814 and 1816 to provide work for the local population, who had been hard hit by a harsh winter (the fishing and salt harvests had been poor). The most remarkable feature of the site is its spiral lookout, recently restored, from which you can enjoy a remarkable view of the Traict and the Guérande peninsula. It's well worth a visit...
